How fees work

Testing is one fee for the whole evaluation, and you have it in writing before you start.

  • Insurance we work with

Flint is out of network with insurance plans. Many plans do not pay for testing done to answer a school question, and a plan that covers testing for a medical question sets its own rules. Ask your plan before you book, and ask us anything.

    • Out of network with every plan

    • Not enrolled with Medicaid

  • If you pay yourself

The fee covers the whole evaluation: the parent interview, the testing visits, scoring, the report and the feedback visit. What sets it is your child's questions and age, because a focused evaluation takes fewer visits than a full one. A limited number of reduced-fee evaluations are held each season, so ask when you write. Your fee is given in writing before you start, and a health savings or flexible spending card works where your plan allows it.

  • Receipts for reimbursement

On request we give you an itemized receipt (a superbill) that you can send to your plan to ask for reimbursement. It carries a diagnosis code if the report gives one, and your plan sees it. Your plan decides what it pays; reimbursement is not guaranteed.

  • An estimate in advance

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of your care before you start. We give you one in writing. If a bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.

  • Checking your benefits

If you want to ask your plan about reimbursement, we tell you which codes to ask about before you book. Dr. Paschal does not call your plan for you, and nothing is billed to it.

  • What the first visit includes

A parent interview of about an hour, without your child. It covers your child's history and your questions, and it ends with a plan for testing and the written estimate.

Before the parent interview

What to have ready

  • Your questions about cost

Ask what the evaluation includes, what is not covered and how to change your mind. We answer plainly.

  • Your plan's reimbursement rules

If you plan to ask your plan to reimburse you, ask them first what they require. We tell you the codes.

  • Your contact preference

Tell us whether to reach you by call, text or email, and whether it is safe to leave a message.

Questions

Fee questions

How much does testing cost, and how do fees work?

Testing is one fee for the whole evaluation, set by your child's questions and age, and you have it in writing before you start. How fees work explains what is included, the reduced-fee spots and the estimate.

Can I use an HSA or FSA card?

Often, yes. A health savings or flexible spending card works where your plan allows it for this kind of evaluation. Check with your plan administrator, and we will give you a receipt.

What is a superbill, and can I use it?

A superbill is an itemized receipt that you can send to your plan to ask for reimbursement. It carries a diagnosis code if the report gives one, and your plan sees it. Your plan may reimburse part of the fee, and it decides what it pays; reimbursement is not guaranteed. We give you one on request.

What is your cancellation policy?

Your fee letter says how much notice we ask for and what happens if a visit is missed. We go through it with you before you start, and a sick child is never a problem.

Ask us before you book

Write or call, and we will explain what your evaluation would involve and what the estimate would cover.
